A Bit More About Me

Before falling in love with curating, my background was in PR in the performing arts and the media – including nine years for BBC Television. During two years living in Sydney, Australia I developed a love – but sadly not a talent – for ceramics and also an appreciation for curating.

Back in the UK, in 2010 I embarked on a Masters at the University of the Arts, Plymouth specialising in curating, and in 2014 I founded the Byre Gallery, conveniently sited right next to my home in south east Cornwall. Over the past decade it has become recognised as one of the most elegant and inviting galleries in the region with a reputation for its curated mix of contemporary craft and fine art.

When I'm not in the gallery...

You’ll likely find me chatting with artists and makers for my podcast, An Art to It. If you’re at all curious about what it really means to run your own creative business —and let’s be honest, who isn’t?—then you’ll love these behind-the-scenes conversations.

Outside of work, I’m happiest with my nose in a book—detective fiction has been my go-to genre since I devoured my first Agatha Christie at age 10 (though I do mix in the occasional “real” book too!). Otherwise, you’ll find me walking Cornwall’s breathtaking coast paths and beaches with our mischievous yet lovable English Pointer, Sidney.

And as for that long-standing dream of writing my own murder mystery? What do you think Sid and I are plotting on our walks!
